iPhone Battery Draining Too Fast? Try Calibrating The Battery

Written by iHospital. Posted in How To

iphone battery drainingMany people are complaining that their iPhone batteries are draining too fast after they installed iOS 6.  Check out this thread in the Apple Support Communities for a long discussion on the causes and the remedies. The most common complaint is that after a full night of charging the battery to 100%, it drops to 75% or so within an hour with little or no usage.  Although this is perceived to be a common issue, it’s been noted that there are similar complaints each time a software update has been issued by Apple.

No matter the cause, it’s extremely frustrating to have an iPhone battery that dies quickly after a full charge.  One remedy is to calibrate your iPhone’s battery.  This should only be done after you’ve tried the following: resetting your network settings; turning off Bluetooth when not in use; disabling notifications, iCloud, location services, and usage reports. These settings are easy to adjust and should help retain your iPhone’s battery life.

How to Insert a SIM Card into an iPhone 5

Written by iHospital. Posted in How To

Today we’re discussing how to insert a SIM sim card into an iPhone 5.

1) The first step is to get your nano SIM card.  Please note a conventional SIM card can’t be used in the iPhone 5. Don’t worry if you don’t have a nano SIM card, your carrier will be happy to replace your traditional SIM card with a nano.  This nano SIM can be converted back to the traditional form if needed.

2) The second step requires you to find your SIM eject tool.  Depending on the model, you may have gotten a SIM eject tool with your purchase. If not, a bent paperclip will work just fine.

how to reset an iPad

We love our iPads and have come to depend on them for just about everything.  Despite its flashy applications and leading edge technology, Apple’s iPad is similar to a computer and comes with the same problems.  Sometimes our trusty iPad applications freeze and it becomes tough to use your iPad.  We would call this situation a crash which means your iPad won’t respond to the home button, on/off button or the touchscreen. To fix this problem, you need to reset your iPad.  Our D.i.D. Doctor of iDevices wrote this brief tutorial to help you get your iPad back in tip top running condition.

How to Reset an iPad

1)  The first step in resetting your iPad is to press the home button and the on/off button down at the same time.  The home button is the round one at the bottom center of the iPad’s front and the on/off button is located on the top right corner of the iPad.

2) After you hold down the on/off button and home button, you will have one of the two following things happen. First, the screen will flash and go dark, or a red slider will be displayed at the top of your screen. If you see the slider, slide it to the right to turn your iPad off.  You also have the option to cancel the reset from this screen.

how to connect an iPhone to a Keyboard

Here is a brief tutorial on how to connect a keyboard to your iPhone.  This is a great time saving idea if you need to type in large amounts of text into an email or iMessage, and you’re tired of tapping away on your iPhone screen.  Your iPhone must be updated to iOS 4.0 to be able to interface with a Bluetooth keyboard.  Don’t forget, a wireless keyboard will work from approximately 30 feet away from your iPhone.

How to Connect a Keyboard to Your iPhone

1) Turn your iPhone on and make sure that Bluetooth is enabled.  This is done by going  Settings > General > Bluetooth > On.  This may seem like a no-brainer but many people turn off Bluetooth to extend the life of their battery.

2) You’ll see a “Now Discoverable” notice pop up on your iPhone’s screen with a list of paired Bluetooth devices.  These are all the devices that your iPhone knows how to connect too.

By default, Apple widgets are located in the dashboard that pops up when you hit certain keys or a hot corner.  Also, the more widgets you have running, the longer they take to start up the first time you activate them after a restart.  If you’d like to have your widgets available on your desktop, type in the following command into your Mac terminal: “defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES”.
