So what can you do to increase the battery life of your iPhone? It’s an important question we asked our D.i.D. Doctor of iDevices and here’s what they had to say.
Charge it Often and Use it Regularly
iPhone’s batteries are made of Lithium Polymer which means they perform best when you keep them “topped off”. This means you can charge your iPhone anytime you have a chance. It’s a common misconception you must let your battery completely drain prior to recharging it. Also, you should use your iPhone on a regular basis to keep the electrons moving. We’re sure this won’t be hard to do as we are all iPhone addicts on this blog!
Drain your Battery Once Per Month
Set a reminder in your calendar to go through at least one complete charge cycle per month. This means you need to charge your battery to 100% and then completely drain it i.e. use it until it turns off because it has no power. After connecting your iPhone to a power source, it will take approximately two minutes until it has enough charge to power up. Don’t do this too often as it will have an adverse reaction if you do.
Optimize your iPhone Settings
Optimize your iPhone’s settings so that it has a longer charge cycle which will result in a better battery life. Go to Settings and turn off the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Push notifications for any app that uses them. When these settings are turned to on, they drain the battery even when you’re not using them. Lower the brightness of your screen and turn on “Auto-Brightness” which will self adjust according to the level of the light . Use airplane mode when in low or no coverage areas as well.
Update to the Latest Software
Apple engineers are working hard to optimize battery life and performance. This means you should always update to the latest software via iTunes.
Final Tips and Tricks
Keep your iPhone’s temperature below 95 degrees Fahrenheit and avoid direct heat and sunlight for long periods of time. Excessive heat can damage your iPhone’s battery and degrade performance. Try and keep your iPhone as near room temperature as possible, 72 degrees Fahrenheit is ideal.
