It’s been over a week since the new iPad launched and guess what? The new device accounts for 1 in 15 Apple tablets accessing the Internet according to Macworld.
The data comes in from Chitika, a mobile ad network, which regularly retrieves data from its ad-serving network for various device and browser usage patterns. According to the numbers, over a 24-hour period, the new iPad generated 6.6% of all iPad traffic that went through the company’s systems. The first generation iPad as well as the iPad 2 were responsible for the remaining 93.4%.
The new iPad has been slowly moving up the chart since it’s debut on March 16. Last Saturday, Chitika said that the new iPad hit a high point of 5% and reached 9.9% for an hour on Tuesday, March 20. Pretty amazing right?
All in all, Apple has already sold over 3 million new iPads and this number represents 5.4% of the 55.3 million iPads Apple sold through Dec. 31, 2011. iPad sales and activations broke single-day records as well. Apple started selling tablets in 25 more markets including Austria, Finland, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands and Spain which means you can now buy iPads in 35 countries!
iPad Shipping delays now sit at one to two weeks, a decrease of a week from the previous two to three week delay.
