Adobe Ideas

Adobe IdeasiPad Application Adobe Ideas - $5.99 US – Score: 4 IV’s

What is Adobe Ideas?

Adobe Ideas is a drawing app available for purchase on the iPad.  It’s your own personal sketch book that lets you capture ideas anywhere you go.

What did you like about Adobe Ideas?

The quality of drawing and taking notes is very clean. Makes drawing with layers very easy.  I’ve tried other drawing apps for the iPad with multiple options but they almost had too many options.  The finished image was also too small to create images.  Adobe Ideas allows me to easily import to Photoshop at any resolution, or open it in Adobe Illustrator and edit it as a vector file.   You also have the option to produce additional layers (up to 10) within the application.  Overall, it’s extremely simple to use and well designed.  Simple for kids to use too!

What did you not like about Adobe Ideas?

They don’t offer too many colors, shapes or brush sizes.  It would also be nice to be able to sample colors because once you create a color, then later want to use it again, it’s gone.  It costs 99 cents to purchase layers after you’ve already forked out $4.99 for the application.

How does it work?

It’s a good idea to purchase a stylus when using Adobe Ideas so your drawings and notes will be precise.  Once you start up the application you can either create an image from scratch or open a photo to edit.  There is a basic toolset interface on the left hand side where you can draw, erase, define brush size, adjust opacity, select color and select themes.  The tools are vector based so the lines remain smooth, and the brush size tool support multi-touch as well.

Where can I purchase it?

You can purchase Adobe Ideas here from iTunes.  I think you’ll really enjoy it!

Every Tuesday and Thursday our expert D.i.D. Doctor of iDevices review and rate Apple applications, accessories and more. Items are rated from 1 to 5 IV’s (5 being the highest possible score). If the item is a total waste of time and money we’ll give it the dreaded bedpan score of zero.
