Logitech Fold-Up Keyboard for the iPad 2

Written by iHospital. Posted in Applications

Logitech Fold-Up Keyboard for iPad 2 ReviewAccessory – Logitech Fold-Up Keyboard for the iPad 2  – Score: 4 IV’s

What did you like about it?

Have you ever wished you could type faster on your iPad or have you grown tired of the touch screen keyboard? The Logitech Fold-Up Bluetooth Keyboard adds a much desired function to the iPad 2, a physical keyboard, without adding much bulk. It basically turns your ipad into an ultra portable touchscreen notebook.

The device connects via a plastic shell that attaches to the back of the iPad 2 and slides into the keyboard. Syncing is done wirelessly via bluetooth to your iPad 2 and there seems to be no noticeable lag in between keystrokes and actions on the screen.

When not being used, the keyboard folds up into nice clean package that conceals itself to the back of the iPad. While closed the keyboard goes into sleep mode to conserve battery but still remains connected to the iPad, this means when you open it up again it is already configured and ready to go. Battery life on the keyboard is very good.

Jawbone JAMBOX

iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch Accessory – Jawbone JAMBOX  – $199.99 – Score: 4 IV’s

Jawbone Jambox speaker review

What is the Jawbone JAMBOX?

JAMBOX is a portable wireless speaker that you can attach to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.  It claims to be the “smallest, best sounding wireless speaker and speakerphone on the planet.”

What did you like about JAMBOX?

There are times when you are with a small group of people and something is missing. Conversation is steady and the topics are interesting, but there’s something that could add some flavor to your little get-together.

Look no further than the JAMBOX made by the reputable Bluetooth headset manufacturer, Jawbone. With the small size and solid construction of the unit, one will have a hard time not paying the $199.99 MSRP for the portable speaker. Upon handling the device, I instantly loved the feel of it without even turning it on, however after turning it on I discovered that it was even better than imagined. As you flip up the spring loaded switch on the side of the JAMBOX, the speaker whips to a start with a sound that could only resemble a larger speaker with more mass to it. Right after, the user is greeted by a lady with a lovely accent who dictates the status of the device to you. Whether it’s “JAMBOX is in pairing mode, waiting for device to connect,” or “Battery is full,” the software narrator gives you all the information you need to know.

In terms of sound, the device goes beyond the expected for a device of its size. Playing music brings out all the highs and lows that your heart could desire in a small setting. People immediately notice the subwoofer quality bass “thump” that comes from the tiny speaker. Another neat feature of the device is LiveAudio, a technology from Jawbone that allows for 3D sound. Once placed a couple of feet in front of the listener, the music is other worldly. There is really no way to accurately describe the experience of 3D sound. You have to hear to believe.
Place the JAMBOX into your car to use when needed at a campfire, picnic, or any other activity, or you can keep it around the house for casual listening around the kitchen or playroom. The convenient size of the speaker really makes for a versatile device that can be used in many situations.

While some users may not choose to partake in the possibilities, Jawbone actually offers software updates on their website for the JAMBOX with customizable voices and other sound enhancing tweaks here and there. You can even use the JAMBOX as a speakerphone for small meetings with its built-in Bluetooth microphone.

What didn’t you like about JAMBOX?

Purely said, the JAMBOX is awesome, but as with any consumer electronic, there are of course trade offs. The size of the JAMBOX does not allow for the loudest volume especially since one of the strong points is the sound quality, so no one is going to throw a house party with this speaker (look to the newly released “Big JAMBOX” for that). Any more than 6 people gathered for a social gathering and their conversation is going to drown out the music. Last, but certainly not least and at the forefront of the mind of the consumer: the price. $199.99 is a lot to pay for anything, let alone a portable speaker, so it takes many a person some considerable time to mull over whether the price tag is worth it.

Mobile Cloth Accessory Review

iPod, iPad, iPhone Accessory: Mobile Cloth – $6.99 – $95.99 US – Score: 4 IV’s

One of the most frequent questions we get from iPhone, iPod and iPad users at all our iHospital locations is, ‘What’s the best way to keep my screen smudge-free?’ It’s a great question to ask while waiting around our iHospital locations for your Apple device to be repaired and we’ve found plenty of options to limit the number of fingertip smudges the screen of your Apple device gets throughout the course of a day. We think we’ve finally stumbled upon a revolutionary screen cleaning product that we can’t recommend highly enough.

What would that product be you’re wondering? Well, you’re just going to have to come into an iHospital location near your house to find out… Just kidding. We wouldn’t actually do that to you! No, the product in question is the Mobile Cloth and their Twitter bio found @MOBiLECLOTH simply and effectively states: “MOBiLE CLOTH, A Revolution Against Touchscreen Fingerprints.”

BookBook for iPhone

Written by iHospital. Posted in Accessories

Book Book Case AccessoryiPhone Accessory: BookBook for iPhone – $59.99 US – Score: 4 IV’s

What is the BookBook and what do you like about it?

The BookBook for my iPhone 4 is awesome!  This case serves as a wallet, and a protective iphone case. On the left side you have multiple slots for credit cards, a window slot for your ID, and a pocket underneath for miscellaneous items. On the right side you have a housing area for your iPhone to be secured. A leather strap over the top prevents your iPhone from sliding free. The BookBook is made with a high quality leather with some nice gold-embossed features that looks like a small vintage book. This case is sure to get the attention and envy of anybody that see you with it.

The most valuable benefit of carrying the BookBook is the comfort of less things in my pockets.

Why is the BookBook great for forgetful people like me?

Purchasing BookBook combines your wallet and iPhone into one neat package.  Now you can use Apple’s Find my iPhone application to find your wallet wherever you might have left it!  It’s like you have your own Apple-designed GPS for your wallet!

What didn’t you like?

The only thing I don’t like about the BookBook is that it doesn’t have a hole for the Camera and Flash.  I should also note the BookBook is only compatible with iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.

Where can I purchase the BookBook for my iPhone?

You can purchase the BookBook from the twelve south website here.
