Catapult King – iTunes Free App of the Week Review

catapult king reviewiPhone and iPad Application – Catapult King – FREE – 3 IV’s

What is Catapult King?

Catapult King is a game app that is designed for both the iPhone and the iPad. It was created by Chillingo Ltd. and released on June 7th, 2012. It has infrequent/mild cartoon or fantasy violence. The average customer rating is four stars in iTunes.

What did you like about Catapult King?

This game is somewhat similar to the world famous Angry Birds, and it’s also made by the same company. It also happens to be this week’s iTunes Free App of the week. In Catapult King, you become the catapult – you seek and destroy forts, castles, and fire-breathing dragons. The point of the game is to rescue the bobble-head princess and defeat scary looking enemies in this playful, fantasy game. Beating a level requires that you knock out all the guards on a castle. You earn extra points for extra destruction. It’s a lot of fun.

You can upgrade and enchant your catapult using magic you earn throughout the game.  You also have the option of purc

Flick Kick Football – iTunes Free App of the Week Review

flick kick football review free app of the weekiPhone and iPad Application – Flick Kick Football – FREE – 4 IV’s

What is Flick Kick Football?

Flick Kick Football  is a sports game application designed for both the iPad and the iPhone created by Developer PikPok Games.   It also happens to be this week’s “App Store Free App of the Week”.  This is a perfect app to download as the Olympic Summer Games are just around the corner!  Check out our previous post, 5 Best Apps for the 2012 London Olympics, for more cool apps related to the games.

What did you like about Flick Kick Football?

The number one reason I love this app is because of the flick control.  The beginning moves are very easy to learn but as you progress, it takes a little more practice and control to learn some of the curved shots.  This is a plus in my books as I like a challenge when it comes to sports applications.

The game is based on placing the ball at varying distances from the goal post, with various configurations of goaltenders.  As the name of the application states, you flick the ball to try and get a goal.  The longer the flick up the screen, the higher the ball travels.  It sounds basic but don’t let that fool you.  There’s the ability to gain

Diptic – iTunes App of the Week Review

Diptic app reviewiPhone and iPad Application – Diptic – FREE – 4 IV’s

What is Diptic?

Diptic is a photo application designed by Peak Systems for the iPhone and iPad.  It also happens to be this week’s “App Store App of the Week”.

What did you like about Diptic?

This is a nicely designed application that allows people to frame several photos into one custom designed photo.  This application may take up hours of your time depending on how much you love photography.

Diptic comes preloaded with 24 layouts.  For $0.99 extra you expand the number of layouts to 52.  The default layouts are square and the expanded layouts can be adjusted.    Using Diptic is simple. After you decide which layout you’re going to use it’s time to start adding pictures.  You can either take some new pictures, add them from your photo album, add them from Facebook, or select them from Flickr.  Then it’s time to start editing.  You can pinch and pull the image to get the right the size.  You can also edit the saturation, brightness, border color and much more.  The best part is playing around with the 14 filters which is very similar to our beloved Instagram.

Here are some other features:

  • You can adjust border color and width
  • Create rounded corners
  • Shake to clear functionality on every screen
  • Send Diptic photos directly to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and many more different networks
  • High resolution options
  • iPad 3 Retina Display
  • Random layout option for when you can’t decide

What didn’t you like about Diptic?

The most common complaint we get about Diptic is that there aren’t enough layouts that come with the free edition.  Other than that, everyone loves it!

Where can we get it?

Download this application for free this week in the App Store. After this week, it will go back to being $0.99.
