3 Ways to Keep Your iPhone 5 Safe from Hackers

Written by iHospital. Posted in iHospital iV

how to keep your iPhone safe from hackersWhen Apple announced the iPhone 5 to the world earlier this year, many people started asking, “how can I keep my iPhone 5 safe?”. This is largely due to the fact that more and more hackers getting a hold of iPhone users’ private information. A well known group of hackers called AntiSec claimed they hacked more than 12 million Apple device ID’s from an FBI agent’s computer; however, this claim was later deemed fake when Paul DeHart, CEO of a company called Blue Toad, said his business was the source of this information.

In the end, iPhone 5 users need to keep their Apple device ID numbers safe and secure because this number is linked to user’s names, cellphone numbers and addresses. Scary right?

Here are 3 ways to keep your iPhone 5 safe from hackers:

Keep your iPhone 5 safe by enabling a password. This is done by going to Settings>General>Passcode Lock. A new screen will appear and you’ll be prompted to enter 4-digit code and re-enter to confirm. You should also put a password on your SIM card to keep hackers from using your account.

How to Insert a SIM Card into an iPhone 5

Written by iHospital. Posted in How To

Today we’re discussing how to insert a SIM sim card into an iPhone 5.

1) The first step is to get your nano SIM card.  Please note a conventional SIM card can’t be used in the iPhone 5. Don’t worry if you don’t have a nano SIM card, your carrier will be happy to replace your traditional SIM card with a nano.  This nano SIM can be converted back to the traditional form if needed.

2) The second step requires you to find your SIM eject tool.  Depending on the model, you may have gotten a SIM eject tool with your purchase. If not, a bent paperclip will work just fine.

Fans pack Apple stores for iPhone 5

Written by iHospital. Posted in Media Coverage

Well, Apple fans, the wait is over. The iPhone 5 was officially released today. And, check out the lines!

People started lining up last night. But really, why? Here’s Fox 15′s Josh Cascio to take a look.

Minute by minute, hour by hour, they waited – even in the rain. For these folks, few things were more important on Friday as getting their hands on the iPhone 5.

Tony Pomales, “It’s a great product. I’ve owned the the 4, the 3, and I never had a problem with them.”

For many, waiting in line for Apple’s latest gadget has become tradition. But the question is why? There are plenty of other top tier electronics out there.

Justin Saturley, Operations Manager for the iHospital which services all things Apple, describes a passion for the product.

“When you get your hands on one of those devices, you realize how much attention to detail they put in there. One of Apple’s main goals in their retail environments is to enrich people’s lives.”

At the bottom of the iPhone 5, the downside to buying it

Written by iHospital. Posted in iHospital iV

It’s no secret a lot of people are salivating at the chance to take a bite out of Apple’s newest iPhone. The new iPhone 5 has plenty of new bells and whistles to boast: it’s bigger, faster and has a better camera.

But the downside appears to be on the bottom of the phone.

“The new connector is bitter sweet,” said Justin Saturley, a technician with Tampa’s iHospital.

Dubbed “Lightning,” the connector is smaller than the one that’s used on current Apple products, which means you’ll need an adapter for your old accessories. And Apple will be happy to sell you the new adapter, for around $30.

“There was no way for them to make the phone thinner and better without changing that connector. That 30 pin connecter was so just so large,” Saturley said.

The technicians at the iHospital hope to have them soon after launch. For most, it’ll be a must-buy along with their shiny new phone.

Tech Check: iPhone 5 Fever

Written by iHospital. Posted in iHospital iV

The big news in the tech world this week has been and probably will continue to be the iPhone 5 announcement. Apple is expected to roll out the newest installment to the iPhone family this week.

Several leaked photos have already hit the web ahead of Wednesday’s announcement. The latest is the new power cord that gets away from the current 30 pin connection. That’s right, you will not be able to use your old cords. This makes sense with the previously leaked photos of a longer, thinner iPhone in the number 5.

The doctors at the iHospital in Atlanta spoke with FOX 5 about what they have been hearing. They say the back is different. The iPhone 5 should have a unibody style, so no more glass fronts or backs.

Will iPhone 5 Sales Reach 10 Million in Launch Weekend?

Written by iHospital. Posted in iHospital iV

iPhone 5 salesUnless you live on a remote island that doesn’t believe in technology, we’re sure you’ve been inundated with information about Apple’s latest iPhone, the iPhone 5.  This particular unit is proving to be a massive hit among users with an estimated 6 – 10 million iPhone 5′s being sold in the opening weekend. This is according to Gene Munster, an analyst from Piper Jaffrey.  Munster based these predictions on two factors: a) the massive amount of iPhone 5 pre-orders and b) the number of iPhone 4S’s sold last year.  Here’s more of what he had to say:

Given the 2 million pre-orders, we remain confident that Apple can deliver 8 million (range of 6-10 million) iPhones in the launch weekend. The reason we are confident in the 8 million is two-fold. First, initial 24 hour pre-orders for the iPhone 5 were up 100% y/y from the iPhone 4S. Last year, pre-orders accounted for 25% of total weekend launch unit sales. Assuming the same initial pre-order/retail distribution, the pre-order total would suggest 8 million launch units.
