Should You Get Your Broken iPhone Screen Repaired?

Written by iHospital. Posted in iHospital iV

broken iphone screen This is one of the biggest nightmares of all Apple enthusiasts. Something causes you to lose your grip on your beloved iPhone.  As you watch in horror, it appears to drop in slow motion to the ground.  You hope and pray it’s unscathed but low and behold, your iPhone’s screen is shattered.  This is one of the first questions that comes to mind: Should you spend the money to repair your broken iPhone screen, or should you just look past the shattered glass until you are eligible for an upgrade?

Here’s why you should replace the screen on your iPhone

1.  Not repairing your broken iPhone screen will greatly affect your resale value: Also, the resale value of your iPhone might offset the cost of repairing the damaged screen.  The difference in resale price on Gazelle and eBay between a cracked iPhone and an iPhone in good shape with just a couple scratches is between $50-$150.

iphone 5 casesApple’s brand new iPhone has inspired plenty of brand new iPhone 5 cases!

Apple fans have fallen madly in love with the iPhone 5 since it first hit stores earlier this year on September 21, 2012.  The iPhone 5 comes with a plethora of updated features including a lightning fast A6 processor, crystal clear graphics, a longer lasting battery, iOS 6 and quick LTE connectivity.  Aside from these amazing updates, the iPhone 5 comes with something the previous iPhone 4S didn’t, an upgraded look and design.  It didn’t stray too far, it’s still the same shape but the iPhone 5 is leaner, longer and thinner with a 4-inch display.   The iPhone 5 has a new aluminum back panel which increases durability, but take it from us, you still need the protection of an iPhone 5 case.

Well, Apple fans, the wait is over. The iPhone 5 was officially released today. And, check out the lines!

People started lining up last night. But really, why? Here’s Fox 15′s Josh Cascio to take a look.

Minute by minute, hour by hour, they waited – even in the rain. For these folks, few things were more important on Friday as getting their hands on the iPhone 5.

Tony Pomales, “It’s a great product. I’ve owned the the 4, the 3, and I never had a problem with them.”

For many, waiting in line for Apple’s latest gadget has become tradition. But the question is why? There are plenty of other top tier electronics out there.

Justin Saturley, Operations Manager for the iHospital which services all things Apple, describes a passion for the product.

“When you get your hands on one of those devices, you realize how much attention to detail they put in there. One of Apple’s main goals in their retail environments is to enrich people’s lives.”

The iPhone 4 Was the Most Purchased Smartphone in 2011

Written by iHospital. Posted in iHospital iV

According to Macworld, the top three smartphones sold in the United States last year all belonged to Apple.  The number one spot went to the wildly popular iPhone 4, the 3GS was in number two and the 4S came in third, even despite an October release late in the year.  The RIM Blackberry Curve 8530 and HTC EVO 4G came in fourth and fifth.

The results are available in ComScore’s annual Mobile Future in Focus Report  and it’s also important to note that Apple is the top-selling smartphone manufacturer in the United States with 29.6 percent of the market share.

Apple’s iPhones only make up roughly 30% of the total smartphone market.   And because there are more than one hardware manufacturer building phones for the platform, Android is holding the number one spot at 47.3 percent of the market.  The ComScore report also suggests that Blackberry users are more likely to switch to an Android rather than an iPhone. Seriously?  (Don’t forget to check out our iPhone repair section in case your part of the 30% and are in need of help!)

Apple is the World’s Largest Smartphone Vendor Again

Written by iHospital. Posted in iHospital iV

Guess who moved Korean giant Samsung back into the number two spot for smartphone vendors?  According to numbers released in the fourth quarter of 2011, Apple has moved back into the number one spot by a small margin.  These numbers are according to research firm Strategy Analytics and IHS iSuppli.

Samsung moved into the number one spot in the third quarter of last year as customers were impatiently waiting for the iPhone 4S. Global smartphone sales grew 54 percent annually to reach a record of 155 million units in the fourth quarter of 2011 according to Alex Spector, Associate Director at Strategy Analytics. Apple’s global smartphone shipments grew an astounding 128 percent annually to 37 million units across multiple countries.  Samsung shipments were up 241 percent at 36.5 million.  Talk about a close competition!

Apple and Samsung are also involved in fierce patent litigation as Apple is trying to block Samsung devices in multiple markets.

The numbers for Nokia cut in half from 33% in 2010 to 16% in 2011, probably because of it’s lacking touchscreen portfolio and it’s tiny presence in the U.S. market.  Experts will be watching to see how Microsoft and Nokia partner in 2012 to expand the 4G LTE.   Android didn’t fare so well either as the marketplace is becoming crowded with various licensees competing for a smaller customer base.  Sony Ericsson shipped a lackluster 9 million phones in the 4th quarter indicating at 20% drop.
