We’re starting a new column here at iHospital called “Meet our D.i.D. Doctor of iDevices” where we introduce you to one of our awesome D.i.D. Doctor of iDevices. Today we’re introducing you to Sam Schlam. (Follow him on Twitter at @drSamDiD) He’ll tell you about his favorite Apple devices, his best memories, worst repair he’s ever done at iHospital, as well as his love for Vanna White. Enjoy!
What is your name?
Dr. Sam S. Schlam, D.I.D.
Which store location(s) do you work at?
What is your favorite Apple Device and why?
iPhone 4, It’s my favorite because I’ve got a Transparent Conversion kit on the front, and a custom engraved wood back. I like unique things, and the iPhone 4 is an iDevice that you can modify to your liking.
What do you love about your job?
I enjoy being able to wear Scrubs to work. I also like taking things apart, and figuring out how they can be modified to be different from anybody else’s.
What do you think the iPhone 5’s best new feature will be?
If I’ve learned anything about Apple’s new products it’s that you won’t know the best new feature until it’s in your hand, and you’re playing with it.
What adjective would you use to describe yourself?
Tell me about your proudest moment at the iHospital?
What type of mobile phone do you own?
Cats or dogs?
What was the first Apple device you ever puchased?
iPad. (I was a late bloomer)
Rate yourself from 1 to 10. How weird are you and why?
8. My Grandmother refers to it as “Special” instead of “Weird”.
What are the first three things you did on your first day at work at iHospital?
1) Put on my Scrubs. 2) Fix a broken digitizer on an iPhone 3GS. 3) Got rid of my Blackberry
What’s the worst Apple Device damage you’ve ever seen? What was the story behind it?
What’s the funniest thing you have ever experienced?
Having to take a GreyHound from Atlanta to LA the week of Christmas because I missed my flight. At the time it was an awful situation, but in hindsight, it was a pretty funny experience to have.
If you could meet anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
Vanna White! I’ve had a thing for her as long as I can remember.
Decaf or Regular?
Coca-Cola. But not any of the Zeros. I keep it Classic 4LIFE!!!!!!!!!
